At the end of the third day of JPR 2025, the Inauguration Session of the SPR New Board of Directors for the 2025-2027 Biennium was held, marked by moments of emotion, recognition and gratitude.
The ceremony began with Dr. Nelson Caserta’s speech, who gave his farewell one as president. He deeply thanked everyone for their participation — colleagues, teams and members — and emphasized that no work is done in isolation, because what matters is collaboration.
In addition, he highlighted the importance of continuing education and knowledge sharing among radiologists: “We can move forward in isolation, but it will not be possible to reach the pin”.
After this moment, Dr. Caserta called Dr. Douglas Racy, then the SPR president-elect, to sign the Instrument of Inauguration, followed by the passing of the pin by Dr. Cesar Higa Nomura to Dr. Caserta, representing the Advisory Board. The ceremony also included the composition of the new Board of Directors, which was as follows:

At the piano, Dr. Douglas Racy closes the ceremony honoring his father
Dr. Douglas Racy began his speech as the new SPR president with a key word: gratitude. He chose not to focus on moments of health crisis, but rather to recognize the people and experiences that marked his career.
Showing photos, he shared his history in the field, from his time in college to coordinating the radiology department at Beneficência Portuguesa. He also mentioned the studies he is currently participating in and spoke enthusiastically about MedHubX, a project in which he is involved with Drs. Regis Otaviano França and Hilton Leão.
Closing his speech, with great emotion, he introduced his family, reinforcing the pillars that support his journey. The final moment was dedicated to a special thanks to Dr. Antônio Rocha, for his support and contribution.
The ceremony ended with a simple tribute to Dr. Douglas Racy’s father, who passed away when he was 9 years old. He taught him how to play the piano, and that was how he ended the event, performing the song “Writing on the Wall”, conducted by Sam Smith.
The ceremony was a milestone of continuity and renewal, celebrating the legacy that has been built and the new paths that lie ahead.
